Congratulations Poetry Contest Winners!

The judges of the annual Annandale student poetry contest are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s contest.  In First Place is Robert Trexler for his poem entitled, An Old ManSecond Place goes to Cheri Jansen for Harassment in Afganistan.  Nathan Moore wins Third Place for While We Were Down on Earth.   Best wishes to all of the winners.Please join us for a reading of their work and presentation of awards on Wed., April 18, 2-3:30 PM. Everyone is invited to participate in the open reading and enjoy the refreshments that follow.

We thank all of you who participated in this event and encourage you to keep writing.  There’s always next year’s contest!

Upcoming Library Events

The Annandale Campus Library is an exciting place, especially near the end of the semester! Check out the following events that are taking place in the Library:

4/2/2012: The Edible Book Festival will take place from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. Visit the Library to see the yummy creations our patrons created! Then EAT them–the food, not the patrons!

4/11/2012: Did you know that the Library has Kindles for you to borrow? The Library will host the first Multimedia Center Petting Zoo! Stop by the Library between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to see and explore our wild and exotic gadgets!

4/18/2012: Our annual Poetry Contest Reception is back! Drop in to listen to some original poetry or to read some of your own poems. The Poetry Contest reception is from 2p.m. until 3:30 p.m. There will be food and drinks, so don’t miss this event!

Annual Student Poetry Contest

NOVA poetry cover sheet! Get in touch with your Muse!  April is National Poetry Month, and you can help us celebrate!!  The Second Annual Annandale Campus Student Poetry Contest, co-sponsored by the NOVA Annandale Library and the Writing Center, gets underway on March 12th.  Pick up your entry form at any of several campus locations including the Library (CG-300), the Writing Center (CG-409), the CA Information Desk (CA first floor lobby), and the English Department (CN-226).  Or stop by and visit us in the CF Cafeteria from 12 Noon-2 PM on March 13th to pick up entry forms and more information.  A reception featuring prizes, an open mike, and light refreshments will be held on April 18th to showcase contest winners and willing readers.
