This year’s Life After Study Abroad Conference: The Career Benefits of Study Abroad will enable DC Area study abroad alumni to think critically about how their study abroad experience has influenced them as future professionals. Through a series of dynamic panel discussions and workshops, conference participants will be prompted to identify and articulate the specific intercultural skills and knowledge gained from study abroad and, more importantly, learn how to communicate their transferable value as essential to the professional demands of today’s rapidly globalizing economy. In addition, participants can opt to have their resumes reviewed by local professionals in order to ensure that they are effectively highlighting their international experiences as well as the intercultural competencies gained through study abroad.  Graduate school programs and long-term volunteer opportunities abroad will also be explored.
