NOVA MEC Blood Drive

Recently, the Medical Education Campus (MEC) was one of the recipients to receive a Certificate of Recognition at INOVA Health System’s annual Blood Donor and Coordinator reception awards dinner. During the dinner, many videos were played showing exactly who receives blood donated through local blood banks. It is an eye opening experience to see how crucial blood drives are. From infants to the elderly, blood donors save many lives each day.

Although the MEC is a small campus, they are a community of big hearts. The MEC has continuously surpassed its goals each semester mainly with the assistance of its Medical Laboratory Technology club lead by co-advisor Stefanie Thompson(MLT Program manager/adjunct Instructor). The club is essential in recruiting donors and assisting with registration and organization the day of the drives. Their motto is “If you can’t donate, encourage someone who can.”
