“Lessons Learned” by Bobby Lee Madden

Dr. Barbara Lash and Bobby Lee Madden

Dr. Barbara Lash hosted a reception for Bobby Lee Madden’s art exhibition at the Manassas Campus.

On September 18, the Manassas Campus held a reception in honor of Bobby Lee Madden’s art show called “Lessons Learned.” The exhibition was a tribute to Fine Arts Professor Randy Michener who recently retired after nearly four decades at NOVA.

Madden’s show featured works that were created under Michener’s tutelage during art classes at the Manassas Campus. Madden earned four associate degrees at NOVA: fine arts, art history, liberal arts and speech communication. At George Mason University, he completed bachelor’s degrees in art studio and English, followed by a master’s degree in education. Madden is currently teaching studio art and art history courses at NOVA.

Organized by Art History Professor Barbara Lash and sponsored by the Office of Student Life, the reception was well attended by students, faculty and staff who enjoyed refreshments while discussing the artwork with Madden.

Retirees Sherrill Wharff, Claire Ackerman and Nancy Green attended the art reception to catch up with friends.

  1. I have always envied Bobby Lee’s talent. I’m thrilled for him that he is teaching and would be the first to sign up if he teaches at the Liudoun campus! Unfortunately, I can’t draw to save my life….
