Wallace Brings Encouragement to MLK Day Program On January 23, Dr. Barbara “Bobi” Wallace (AL) was the guest speaker at the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program for inmates.

Nearly 100 inmates at the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center attended the event to hear Wallace’s inspirational and motivational message on overcoming challenges and pursuing successful goals.

Wallace Brings Encouragement to MLK Day Program For several years, Wallace has been a faculty member and adjunct professor in NOVA’s Communication Studies and Theatre Program. She was the second guest speaker at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program from the Alexandria Campus. Liberal Arts Dean, Jimmie McClellan, spoke last year on the history of civil rights.

Wallace teaches “Business and Professional Communication” (CST-227) at the Adult Detention Center as part of the NOVA Open Roads partnership with the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office. NOVA’s participation began in 2012.
