Three to Succeed

Seems we need three assets to reduce risks of suicide ideation and risk behaviors. A Fairfax County Youth Survey analysis reveals that having just three assets dramatically reduces teens’ risk behaviors and promotes thriving youth (http://www.unifiedpreventioncoalition.org/for-parents/youth-survey-results.html)

Assets are: Possessing high personal integrity, performing community service, having teachers recognize good work, having trusted adults to talk to, participating in extracurricular activities and having parents available for help.

To learn more about the survey link to  http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/demogrph/youthpdf.htm. This survey is done for students in middle and high schools with the results providing a snapshot of Fairfax County youth and serve as a barometer of the community’s effectiveness fostering healthy choices in young people.
