Wrapping up the semester

As the semester wraps up, I wanted to remind everyone that my students in Introduction to Women’s Studies will be having their final projects on display in our Feminist Gallery on Wednesday, May 8th from 4:30 – 7 p.m. in AA 259. Please come take a look and ask them how their creation connects to feminism.

Exciting News

My most recent publication is out! “Speaking the Cacophony of Angels: Gaiman’s Women and the Fracturing of Phallocentric Discourse” in Feminism in the Worlds of Neil Gaiman (McFarland Press). You can purchase your very own copy of this excitingly nerdy book on Amazon!

Exactly what I thought it’d be

“This job is exactly what I thought it’d be: crazy, busy, and perfect for me.” I don’t know how many times a week I’ve said this, but it seems to have become my mantra since starting as the Coordinator for the Academic Center for Reading & Writing in July 2012. I knew when I applied for this position how much I’d love it: it combines my love of leading, teaching, reading, and writing.

I believe passionately in words. From the classroom (I’m an Assistant Professor in the English department) to leading workshops or publishing articles, I live my love affair with language openly. If you want to catch my fire, you merely need to take one of my classes (if you aren’t inspired, you’ll at least be entertained by my madness).
