About Me

Education:

I have a Masters in Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans (UNO).

Professional Background:

I have been teaching College Composition, Literature, and Creative Writing at NOVA since 2008. Before that I taught at the University of New Orleans (UNO), where I earned my graduate degree. My first semester teaching at UNO was fall 2005, so I began my career with the terrible aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It was an incredible way to learn how to teach online, and I have enjoyed teaching with technology in a variety of ways ever since.

Hobbies & Interests:

I am an experimental gardener, a writer, and I recently started knitting again after a 30 year break. My 2 daughters  and our 2 dogs take up most of my time, but when I am not teaching, parenting, or walking dogs, I enjoy reading historical fiction and poetry, and I occasionally even find time for my own creative writing which ranges from narrative poetry to fiction, to creative nonfiction.
