The New Black Box Theatre
opens in our new Woodbridge Arts & Sciences building this fall (move-in during the summer); theatre productions and theatre classes will be held in the Black Box (WAS 0139) during the fall semester.
My plan was simply to port the name “LakeSide Theatre” to the new Black Box, but someone out there might have ideas for different names; for instance…
Woodbridge Arts Theatre
LakeSide Arts Theatre
LakeView Arts Theatre
Neabsco LakeSide Theatre
Neabsco LakeView Theatre
Theatre at Neabsco Lake
Neabsco Lake Theatre
Lake Neabsco Theatre

This photo gives a good idea how large the black box theatre will be, also showing the catwalk and loading door.
As we prepare to move into the newly-named Woodbridge Arts and Sciences (WAS) Building this summer and get ready for productions in its completely-adaptable black-box theatre in the fall, the NoVa Woodbridge Theatre Group will present a production of one-act plays under the title “ILLUSIONtRUThILLusion” on April 4-13, 2013, in the LakeSide Theatre.
Most of the plays directed by NVCC-Woodbridge students, one written by an NVCC-Woodbridge student, and featuring performers from the community and from the College, this production has something for everyone!
Please come see us!

Acting One, CST 131
will be meeting on Wednesdays from 1:30 – 4 pm during the Fall 2012 semester.
This is an acting for the “stage” (live theatre) class, but most actors and acting teachers agree that you should have practice in these basic principles in order to act with most artistry in ANY medium.
I do have plans for a “camera acting” portion of the course.
Acting One students are not required to work on the fall production but are most definitely encouraged to.
The Woodbridge Campus Theatre Club will hold its first (organizational) meeting of the Fall 2012 semester on Thursday, August 23, 2012, from 4 – 5 pm.
Everyone is welcome!
We will be discussing our activities and events for 1012-2013.
Theatre Workshop, CST 136 / Rehearsal and Performance, CST 233
are offered this Fall 2012 semester on Thursdays from 2 – 5 pm.
Both are practicum courses: you will be learning experientially about how to put on a theatre production.
Please sign up for one of these classes if you’re interested.
(NOTE: you do NOT need to be registered in one of my classes in order to be involved in the production; anyone can audition and be cast, and anyone can work on technical aspects of the production.)
Our New BlackBox Theatre
It’s being built! It’s very small (50-75 seats[?]), but it’s completely adaptable, so we’ll be able to present all kinds of theatrical material in a variety of configurations.
It’s being housed in the new Woodbridge Campus Academic/Arts building, which you can see is in the process of being built and should be completed by summer 2013 — and we hope we’ll be able to occupy the building and present productions by fall of 2013.
Our current theatre has been unofficially named the LakeSide Theatre. Should we port that name over to the new BlackBox theatre, or should we choose a new name for the new venue?
–perhaps the “Woodbridge Arts Theatre (WAT)”?

We hope to post information here about activities of the Woodbridge Campus Theatre Club, including productions by its performance arm,
