Welcome to the College Music Society (CMS) student chapter page!

The mission of our CMS student chapter is to examine issues relating to the contemporary professional lives of student musicians and future educators.

Past events have included:

• Composition discussion with award-winning composer Miho Hazama
• Music Business talk with Kevin Pace, professional jazz bassist
• Talk with Chris Betts, former organist with the Washington National Cathedral
• Masterclasses with Midori, Kim Allen Kluge, and Dmitri Steinberg
• Fieldtrips to the Kennedy Center and Mason Center for the Arts
• Performances at local assisted living communities
• Practicing panel discussion with NOVA’s full-time faculty
• Performing panel discussion with NOVA’s full-time faculty
• End of the year party with food, drinks, and music
• Movie screenings
• Mock juries

Membership is open to all NOVA students who are interested in learning more about music.
