Kenya’s Wildlife Wars: Protecting elephants and rhinos from international poaching cartels

This presentation is funded by a 2014 VCCS Paul Lee grant to travel and research in Kenya. It draws on visits to five national parks and reserves and interviews with senior members of Kenya Wildlife Service. The key topic is how Kenya is using new innovations to combat a dramatic rise in poaching of elephants and rhinos that threatens species with extinction. It will also discuss Kenyan culture, the economics of poaching, and the roles of Chinese cartels, Somali militants, and international laws.canine_conservation_using_
