From the Archive: Nova, Brave and Bold

“From the Archive:
NOVA, Brave and Bold”

Several years ago NVCC started a digitization project to digitize and make public what we have in our historical archives. Each month new items are scanned and there is always at least one item that really stands out; something really funky or just culturally significant to the college. I will be making this a regular blog posting so check back often for more “From the archives”.
First up is the alma mater for NOVA. Yes, NOVA has a school song. It was titled “NOVA, Brave and Bold” and was written in 1987 to celebrate NOVA’s 20th anniversary.

NOVA, BRAVE AND BOLD

NOVA, NOVA, brave and bold,
you have lifted up our spirits.
We do hereby pledge unto you,
Green and gold we will be true.

NOVA, NOVA, hear our praise;
You will always be our inspiration.
NOVA, NOVA, brave and bold,
Hail to you the green and gold.

NOVA, NOVA, lift your lamp
High above Virginia’s byways.
So, with pride, your knowledge impact –
Beacon light for every heart.

To you come the young and old.
Through you go Virginia’s sons and
daughters.
NOVA, NOVA, brave and bold,
Hail to you the green and gold.
