Happy Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China and other Asian countries. Since it is based on the Lunar calendar, there is no set date for Chinese New Year. It occurs on February 5th this year and it is the Year of the Pig according to the Chinese Zodiac. People celebrate new beginnings and fresh starts with special food, fireworks, and a variety of festivals.

If you want to get a feel of what the celebrations are like, please check out the link here to see where the celebrations take place in D.C.  You can also stop by the Annandale Campus Library to check out some books and DVDs to better understand Chinese culture and people. Have a Happy Chinese New Year!
