Annandale Student Life Leadership Development Series Fall 2024
The Annandale Student Life Office is proud to offer the Leadership Development Series Fall 2024 which is designed for current or former Student Life Ambassadors, NOVA Corps Interns, and students recognized as members or officers of a club or organization.
The series is a great opportunity to increase your leadership skills by attending one of the workshops or training sessions. You can also receive the Leadership Development Series Fall 2024 Certificate when completing one of the two paths below. With this certificate you will demonstrate your leadership skills, and you can add it as a nice, bulleted point to your resume!
STUDENT LIFE AMBASSADOR LEADERSHIP PATH
To successfully receive the certificate of completion for the Student Life Ambassador Leadership Development Series Fall 2024, ambassadors and NOVA Corps Interns must attend or complete the following:
- Attend a Student Leadership Workshop (topic A)
- Attend a Student Leadership Workshop (topic B)
- Attend a Student Leadership Workshop (topic C,) or another extracurricular training provided by NOVA or NVCC staff.
- Complete Individual Ambassador Project
CLUB AND ORGANIZATION LEADERSHIP PATH
To successfully receive the certificate of completion for the Student Life Leadership Development Series Fall 2024, students recognized as members or officers of a club or organization must attend the following:
- Attend one of the Mandatory Club Training sessions
- Attend a Student Leadership Workshop (topic A)
- Attend a Student Leadership Workshop (topic B)
- Attend a Student Leadership Workshop (topic C,) or another extracurricular training provided by NOVA or NVCC staff.
CERTIFICATES
Leadership Development Series Fall 2024 Certificates will be awarded to students during the Club Leadership Recognition Awards on December 6, 2024.
LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING OPTIONS
- Communicating Effectively, the Hard and the Easy. September 16th 1:30pm – 3 pm. CA 302. Attendees will explore diverse communication styles and learn skills to better convey tough topics, such as emotions. - SafeTALK Suicide Prevention Training (4 hours) Friday, Sept 27th, 12:30pm – 4:30pm. Location CA 320 . Trains leaders to recognize persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to intervention resources. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/NLkCMG54gubd1nup9
- Cultivating Emotional Intelligence by Pressing Pause. October 16th 1:30pm – 3 pm. CA 302. Attendees will delve into the reaction-response spectrum and assess their own triggers and reaction instincts in order to develop a more measured and meaningful manner to respond to stressful situations. Presented by Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia (GOTR NOVA), a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

- Student Integrity and Conduct Workshop. Wednesday, November 6th 1pm – 2pm. Location CA 323. Dr. Chevella Wilson from the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities will equip attendees with the knowledge, skills, and resources to promote honesty, integrity, and respect among NOVA students and staff.
- Extracurricular training provided by NOVA or NVCC. You can select a different extracurricular training to attend, as long as it is provided by NOVA or NVCC staff. Examples include: VCCS Student conference. Must present proof of attendance.
