The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides academic support to all enrolled NOVA students. ASC offers one-on-one Zoom and in-person tutoring appointments, writing assistance, and a variety of workshops to guide NOVA students toward more efficient and effective academic study skills and strategies. Students can schedule their own appointment with a tutor by logging in to MyNOVA and clicking on the Navigate Student tile.

Professional staff also are available to provide free and confidential academic skills assistance in areas such as time/project management, exam preparation, note-taking skills, and other learning strategies.

ASC’s writing assistance provides writing consultants and tutors who can help students plan a writing project, structure an essay, prepare an outline, revise writing, learn how to proofread and edit (they cannot do this for students), format papers and citations properly, and/or discuss literature and poetry. Even if a student is a confident writer, writing staff can offer helpful feedback. (Please note that they will not help with midterm essays or final exam essays.)
