The Academic Success Center (ASC) proivdes academic support to all enrolled NOVA students. ASC offers one-on-one Zoom and in-person tutoring appointments, writing assistance, and a variety of workshops to guide NOVA students toward more efficient and effective academic study skills and strategies. Students can schedule their own appointment with a tutor by logging in to MyNOVA and clicking on the Navigate Student tile.

Professional staff also are available to provide free and confidential academic coaching in areas such as time/project management, exam preparation, note-taking skills, and other learning strategies.

ASC’s writing assistance provides writing consultants and tutors who can help students plan a writing project, structure an essay, prepare an outline, revise writing, learn how to proofread and edit (they cannot do this for students), format papers and citations properly, and/or discuss literature and poetry. Even if a student is a confident writer, writing staff can offer helpful feedback. (Please note that they will not help with midterm essays or final exam essays.)
