Appointments scheduled in Navigate must be made a day ahead, but they can be made up to two weeks in advance. Appointments fill up, so reserve your appointment early!

Scheduling an Appointment:

  • Log in to myNOVA
  • Click on EAB Student Navigate
  • Select Appointments
  • Click on Schedule an Appointment
  • Select Tutoring
  • Select Date and Time

Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please try to give as much advance notice as possible, so that another student can fill the appointment. You can reschedule in Navigate or call the front desk at 703/845-6363.

No-Show Policy: If a student doesn't show up for three appointments, they will be banned from making future tutoring appointments for 30 days.

Appointment Tutoring:  Students can schedule tutoring only for classes in which they are enrolled. You'll get more out of your appointment if you come prepared with your questions. Remember that tutors can help with explaining concepts and doing practice problems, but they cannot do your homework or other graded material for you.

Writing Assistance:  NOVA students can have two writing appointments per week, per class. Writing consultants and peer tutors can work with you to brainstorm essay topics, structure your essay, prepare an outline, revise your writing, format papers and citations, and/or discuss literature and poetry. Please note that while tutors can help you learn to proofread and edit your papers, they can't do this for you except in the case of transfer essays, scholarship essays, resumes and cover letters, which are not graded materials.

Academic Skills Help:  Professional faculty are available to meet one-on-one with students to help with study skills, including note-taking, test-taking, learning strategies, and time management. If you find yourself not handing in assignments on time or studying hard and not seeing results, make a confidential appointment for academic skills assistance in Navigate. We'll help you create a personalized success plan and monitor your progress towards your goals.
