Change in Student Email for New Applicants

February 11, 2020 / General NOVA News

Effective Friday, February 14, new VCCS applicants will not have access to their student email address until they actually register for a course. This change in VCCS policy is to help combat the growing issue of fraudulent admission applications. The VCCS receives thousands of fraudulent applications because a .edu email address is a valuable commodity that can be sold.

All communication with students should be sent to their personal email address until the student has enrolled. At that time, they will receive an email notifying them that their NOVA email has been activated. They will still have access to their account and the Message Center before enrollment. Please be cautious about including sensitive or personally identifying information in messages sent to a student’s personal email address.
