Loudoun Campus makes 200+ Stuffed Animals for Children’s Hospital

February 13, 2020 / General NOVA News

On Tuesday, February 11th, the Office of Student Life on the Loudoun Campus held a Valentine’s Day event designed to spread the love out into our community. Valentine’s Day is for more than just couples. It is a chance for everyone to practice self-love as well as care and thoughtfulness toward their community.” says Mike McMillon, Student Life Coordinator at Loudoun.

Partnering with the United Nations Ambassadors of USA Club, Student Life provided an opportunity for over 200 students to build a variety of adorable stuffed animals to be donated to sick children at INOVA Hospital in Alexandria.

“In the past, we have held events where students could stuff their own emoji pillows or nighthawk stuffed animals but this year we wanted to give all of our students the chance to give back. Instead of getting to keep the animals they stuffed, they were each given the opportunity to donate the stuffed animal with a kind note attached.” says, McMillon.

While Student Life laid the foundation for the program, it was UNA-USA who were right there in the action. The club is very mission driven to help improve the lives in their community and make the planet a better place. UNA-USA assisted in the marketing, setup, facilitation of the event for the student body as well as the cleanup for the day.

All 200+ stuffed animals will be donated to children currently staying in the facility.

UNA-USA is looking for a new Faculty or Staff Advisor. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact mmcmillon@nvcc.edu for more information on how you can get involved.
