NOVA Adjunct Sayed Hassan Husaini Presents at Sustainability and Climate in Religion Conference
Dr. Sayed Hassan Hussaini, a NOVA Loudoun adjunct professor of Religion, presented at the Conference on Sustainability and Climate in Religion at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (Bergen Campus), Norway, on February 14, 2020. Using Zoom, Hussaini presented “A Platform for Initiating an Ecotheology: Luther’s The Catechism and Islamic Concept of Bismillah.” The conference was organized by Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, The Church of Norway, The Council for Religious and Life Stance Communities in Norway (STL). The Lutheran World Federation and Al Mowafaqa Institute ecumenical de theology (Rabbat, Morocco) were co-organizers. It was aimed to make contribution to the role of religion in honoring the earth and promoting eco-friendly theology. Hussaini’s paper focused on the comparative study of Christianity and Islam to inspire those who are concerned about how religious faith can create environmental commitment. Hussaini said the conference was designed for scholars, religious leaders, and activists to provide and publicize new knowledge, develop professional networks, and collaborate in eco-theology. His presentation was followed by a Q and A session and welcomed by the participants.
