College Board Advocates on Capitol Hill and in Richmond
President Anne Kress, College Board Vice Chair Rosie O’Neil and Board Members Kerstin Carlson LeFlock, Zuzana Steen, and Student Representative Daniel Christman were on Capitol Hill and in Richmond last week. While in DC for the Association of Community College Trustees National Legislative Summit, Board Members joined President Kress, Dana Kauffman and Tykesha Myrick in making the rounds to urge support for Short-Term Pell funding, the College Transparency Act, and our DACA students. We were delighted to meet proud NOVA alumna Insaaf Mohamed in Senator Warner’s office, where she has taken on a staff role after recently graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill. Insaaf is the second person from the left in this photo taken outside of Senator Warner’s Office.
In Richmond on Thursday, Vice Chair O’Neil and Board Members LeFlock, Porter, and Steen met with 31 Senate and Delegate offices before attending the VCCS Legislative Reception. They heard much support for G3 and for NOVA. The second picture shows Speaker of the House of Delegates Eileen Filler-Corn with President Kress and Board Members O’Neil and Carlson.
