NOVA Forensics Shine at James Madison University Tournament
The NOVA Forensics Team kicked off the second half of its competitive season with a victorious performance on the campus of James Madison University! James Madison University’s Annual Virginia is for Lovers Speech and Debate Tournament (also known as Forensics) was held this month on February 8-9th. Members of the NOVA Forensics Team competed against other colleges and universities in various public speaking, debate, and acting and literature performance based events. Catherine Baron and Shreya Patel (AL Campus) won 3rd place in Dramatic Duo Performance. Alma Pekerti (AL Campus) won 6th place in Dramatic Interpretation. Catherine Baron (AL Campus) won 5th place in Dramatic Interpretation and Mia Griffin (LO Campus) won 2nd place in After Dinner Speaking and 5th place in Prose Interpretation. Overall, it was a very successful tournament! The next tournament will occur in San Diego California on the campus of Palomar College. The NOVA Forensics Team is under the direction of Dr. Nathan Carter and is also coached by Professor Amy Hileman (LO Campus), Professor Jeremy Hodgson (AL Campus), and NOVA alumni Roma Diseati and Brigitte Chavez.
