CORONAVIRUS MESSAGE FROM NOVA PRESIDENT (re-publish)

March 12, 2020 / Uncategorized

As we continue our planning for and response to COVID-19, NOVA is implementing a self-quarantine requirement for individuals who have traveled to countries for which the CDC has issued a Level 2 or 3 Travel Warning, as follows:

Consistent with CDC guidelines, students, faculty, and staff returning from travel—whether personal or professional—to any country for which the CDC has issued a Level 2 or 3 Travel Warning related to COVID-19 must self-quarantine for 14 days. The self-quarantine is required whether or not the individual is exhibiting symptoms. During the quarantine, access to NOVA campuses or activities is prohibited.

Individuals should inform the Office of Emergency Management of their identity, country visited, and beginning date of self-quarantine: OEM@nvcc.edu.

Individuals who have recently visited a country under a CDC Level 2 or 3 Travel Warning (per ongoing travel advisory updates) and are experiencing influenza-like illness, with fever greater than 100.3, and symptoms, including cough, body aches, severe sore throat, or runny nose, should seek medical attention, especially if symptoms worsen.

This requirement is being shared with students and will be posted to our Coronavirus website.

We continue to monitor the situation locally and will update you as developments warrant. At this point, prevention and preparation are the best courses of action, and I encourage you to continue to follow CDC recommended hygiene and social distancing practices.

Again, if you have any questions, please reach out to our Office of Emergency Management (OEM@nvcc.edu) or to me. Thank you.
