Web Services & Digital Media (WSDM) Helping NOVA Stay Social
The NOVA community is a diverse group of individuals. One thing that many of our community members have in common is the desire for instant information and feedback. A commonly-used resource is social media. During this time of uncertainty and constant change, NOVA is using its social media platforms as a method to provide our followers with crucial information and updates.
Since posting the first NOVA update about changes due to COVID-19 on our social media platforms, we have had steady contact with our followers, which include students, alumni, faculty/staff, prospective students, community partners, donors and more. NOVA’s Social Media Specialist, Alisa Berry, works diligently to maintain a high response rate to all incoming messages and comments across our four main channels—Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. She communicates regularly with the Office of Emergency Management and other departments to get answers to specific questions that arise during this fast-moving situation.
Typically, people only see what is posted publicly on social media. However, to provide some insight behind the scenes of NOVA’s social media channels, below are some statistics from recently published content:
-
Instagram (3/11-3/23): Total Engagements 2,289
• Twitter (3/11-3/23): Total Engagements 5,125
• Facebook (3/11-3/23): Total Engagements 11,953
• Facebook Impressions: 1,021,241
We want to highlight the efforts of NOVA faculty and staff on our social media channels to show how we are all adjusting to remote working and learning. Please send us photos of your work setups, how you are working with students or co-workers from a distance, or perhaps with your furry home “co-workers.” Our NOVANighthawks would love to see this!
Submit your photos with a brief comment of the image to socialmedia@nvcc.edu.
Thank you all for your continued support, and we hope you are following us!
