Take Steps to Protect Your Zoom Classes Now
We continue to hear of classes being hit with hackers or intruders. You can minimize the risk if you pay attention to these security steps now.
- Do not use your personal Zoom ID. Let Zoom generate a new Meeting ID for each session.
- Require a password.
- Turn off “Allow annotation.”
- Do not embed the password in the one-click phone login.
- Use the waiting room.
- Restrict screen sharing to the host.
- Disable “Allow Removed Participants to Rejoin.”
- Consider locking the session shortly after it has started.
- Be very careful how you share the link and password—never on social media.
- Change the name of all recorded sessions—do not leave them as the Zoom name.
- Enable “Mute participants on entry.”
See https://www.nvcc.edu/academic-technology/continuity/facultystaff.html for how to do these things and more.
