Community College Crafters Putting Skills to Good Use

April 14, 2020 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

Community college crafters are a resilient group. Being on lock down only fuels their creative juices. The fall semester’s “Annandale Library Yarn Storm Group” reassembled as soon as the campuses went remote. The group meets virtually every Friday morning to plot and plan projects that will help the community. Working only with materials in their collective “stashes,” the group made face masks and cards to give to nursing home communities. Last week, 30 face masks and 40 cards were delivered to a grateful Leewood Healthcare Center on Braddock Road. In addition, 50 cards were sent to the Cypress Palms Senior Living Community in Largo, Florida. The group will continue to use their skills and materials to help others during this time of social distancing. For details on how you can help, contact Paula DeRoy, pderoy@nvcc.edu.
