NOVA Cares Faculty and Staff Workshop: Diversity and Inclusion

All NOVA faculty and staff are invited to a NOVA Cares Workshop on Diversity and Inclusion that will take place on April 22, 2020 at 3 p.m. This workshop will be presented by Margarita Martinez.

Margarita Martinez, M.Ed is an academic success counselor and SDV chair at NOVA. They have been in higher Ed in several roles for the last 20 years including in Admissions, Financial Aid, College Access and specializing in Latinx and LGBTQPIA populations. They are very involved in several American Counseling Association subdivisions/state chapters, including the ALGBTIC’s (Association for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Issues in Counseling) presidential task force and co-authored the ALGBTIC Competencies for Counseling LGBQQIA Individuals and Transgender Clients. Margarita was nominated president-elect-elect of the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, a subdivision that focuses on multicultural counseling and social justice. Margarita is also an avid knitter, a Pokemon-Go master and identifies as Non-Binary/Genderqueer and Bisexual/Queer. Margarita is married to an amazing Counselor and has two black cats, Spooky and Midnight.
