Marine Wife. Mom of Five. NOVA Student. Future Cloud Computing Engineer.
Jade Garnett is currently a first-year, non-traditional student taking 15 credits and double majoring in Computer Science and math at NOVA. She is a standing SGA (Student Government Association) senator, member of the Alexandria Forum Council and is completing a work study program at the Technology Innovation in Learning and Teaching Center.
She is a Marine spouse, a homeowner and a mother of five, along with many other titles that she wears proudly. She was classically trained in theatre as a young girl. After high school, she took a break to fulfill personal enrichment goals, married her loving husband and traveled throughout Asia and Europe, returning to the United States in 2018.
She took a coding class at NOVA on a whim one summer, and it completely changed the trajectory of her life as it fostered a great interest in computer science. After attending the AWS Public Sector Summit, she was inspired to become a Cloud Architect or Dev Ops Engineer. She is currently pursuing an Associates in Engineering at NOVA and hopes to transfer to Virginia Tech upon graduation. She further plans to obtain a Master of Computer Science with a specialization in Cloud Computing.
Here’s a fun fact: she can seamlessly switch between ranges of accents learned from all the places she has lived abroad.
