As we move into May and finals week, this semester we’ve shared poetry, food, music and now podcasts. Each of these moments is, as Raymond Carver so movingly wrote, “a small, good thing”—a gesture that breaks through distance, difficulty and even tragedy to demonstrate our human connection. I am grateful to all of you for the kindness, patience and compassion you have shown over the past weeks and that you will show in the days ahead. Because of you, NOVA has remained a community—joined by our dedication to our students, our commitment to the ideals and values of our college and our concern and care for each other.

I wish you a few moments of peace as you approach finals week and the end of this challenging semester.
