Am. Red Cross to Offer Free Mental Health First Aid for COVID-19
The American Red Cross is offering a free online Mental Health First Aid for COVID-19. The course, titled Psychological First Aid: Supporting Yourself and Others during COVID-19, is based on guidance from the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
This course will help you to build resilience and support yourself and others through this crisis by reviewing basic principles of providing psychological first aid, including how to recognize and manage stress in yourself and others and how to lend support to family members, friends and coworkers during and following the COVID-19 outbreak.
The course length is estimated at 60 minutes. The topics covered in the course include:
- Recognizing Stress in Adults, Teens and Children
- Practicing Mental Health First Aid
- Caring for Yourself
- Supporting Your Family
- Supporting Yourself and Coworkers at Work
The course will be free to enrollees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each student who completes the course will receive an American Red Cross Mental Health First Aid for COVID-19 Online Only certificate. The certificate date is the date of course completion and is valid for 2 years.
