Health, Flex Spending Open Enrollment Ends 11:59 p.m. TONIGHT!

Open Enrollment for health benefits and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) began May 1, 2020 and will end at 11:59 p.m. tonight, May 15. All online elections through EDIRECT, as well as paper enrollment forms submitted, must be received by that date.

Enrolling Online Using EmployeeDirect

Employees must submit their elections through EmployeeDirect no later than 11:59 p.m. on May 15, 2020 for them to be accepted. Instructions for enrolling online can be found on the Department of Human Resource Management’s Open Enrollment page.

Enrolling Using the Paper Enrollment Form

The paper enrollment form and supporting documentation of eligibility if electing to add a family member to the health plan, may be submitted to the Benefits Team through secure email by simply entering securemessage: Open Enrollment in the “Subject” line of the email addressed to either Sonia Aboulhosn (saboulhosn@nvcc.edu) for employees with last names beginning with A-L,
or Angel Mori (amori@nvcc.edu) for employees with last names beginning with M-Z.

See the DHRM Spotlight on Your Benefits newsletter for detailed information for the new plan year, which begins July 1, 2020 and ends June 30, 2021. A hard copy of the newsletter along with other important notices was also mailed to eligible employees at their home addresses on file.

Important Notes:

  • Re-enrollment is required each year for continued participation in the Flexible Spending Plans.
  • If an online election is made, it is not necessary to also complete the paper enrollment form.
  • Re-enrollment in health plans is NOT required if no changes to an employee’s health plan or membership level is desired.
  • Only expenses incurred through June 30, 2020 or the last day of the month a participant leaves employment are reimbursable for the current plan year.
  • Reimbursement requests for expenses incurred during the current plan year ending June 30, 2020 must be received by the plan administrator, PayFlex
    within 90 days of the date an employee terminates employment not later than September 30, 2020.
  • Flexible spending funds remaining in an account beyond the reimbursement period are forfeited. There is no carryover provision.
