A Few Notes on Canvas to Start Your Semester

August 20, 2020 / Tech Notes & Training

The following is some important information to know regarding Canvas and the beginning of the term.

  1. All student enrollments have been populated. You will see all students enrolled in your Canvas Courses for Fall 2020 courses.
  2. If you have requested cross-listing of your courses, all requests will be processed Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20. Please do not publish your cross-listed courses until this has been completed and you have received a confirmation email.
  3. Please remember to publish your Fall 2020 courses on Friday, August 21 for courses starting Monday, August 24. For courses starting after this date, please publish your courses 3 days prior to the start date. Remember that students are unable to see your courses until they are published.
  4. Chrome and Firefox are the only 2 supported browsers for Canvas. Many problems occur when other browsers are used, both for students and faculty.
  5. All students have been enrolled in a Student Canvas Orientation course. This takes the place of the previous Canvas for Students module.
  6. All faculty have been enrolled in a Canvas Toolkit course. This course contains resources and videos regarding Canvas, Zoom, and Respondus Lockdown Browser. If you do not see the Canvas Toolkit course, please email canvashelp@nvcc.edu so that we may add you.

Here is a Canvas Beginning of Term FAQ that may help you with other questions. If you still have questions, please contact canvashelp@nvcc.edu.
