NOVA Launches GoCanvas Health Screening App for Android, Apple, Desktop PCs

August 20, 2020 / General NOVA News

NOVA is preparing for a safe return to campus when classes begin on August 24 by launching the ‘GoCanvas’ Health Screening Application. NOVA remains committed to the health and safety of students, faculty and staff, and this app will help the community stay safe.

The purpose of the ‘GoCanvas app’ is to reduce the spread of COVID19 within the NOVA community. All NOVA students, faculty and staff returning to campus are asked to check their symptoms daily using the convenient app. The ‘GoCanvas app’ is customized for NOVA, and uses approved health-related questions established by the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) that provide needed information on potential exposure, but also carefully guard user privacy. The application can be downloaded for Android, Apple or for utilization on a desktop.

The ‘GoCanvas app’ is not a contact tracing tool, but an app that simply assists with helping the user identify symptoms. However, the Virginia Department of Health has launched Covidwise, a contact tracing tool, which can be found on the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

As a reminder, personal identifiable information and health information are not collected, stored in GoCanvas or shared by the college. NOVA may view anonymous aggregated data to look for trends.
