On September 17, Cinema Professor Paul Awad (AN) and Theatre Professor Kathryn O’Sullivan (MA) screened their feature film “A Savage Nature” at the Loudoun Arts Film Festival. The festival was presented by Artistic Fuel in partnership with the Loudoun Arts Council and 50 West Vineyards and held near Middleburg, Va. at 50 West Vineyards.

Filmed entirely in Northern Virginia, “A Savage Nature” is a thriller about a lonely waitress desperate to escape her small Virginia town and repair her troubled marriage to her Afghanistan vet husband. The movie screened as part of the festival’s drive-in events.

“Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, many festivals this year have been unable to hold screening events. We were thrilled that the Loudoun Arts Film Festival found a way to do so in a safe manner. They did a fabulous job,” said O’Sullivan.

“We were excited to have the film finally seen by an audience,” Awad said. “And having it on a big screen at the drive-in was great.”

The film features Joanna Whicker (Chicago P.D.), Steve Polites (Dementia 13), Jon Hudson Odom (Lovecraft Country), Joseph Carlson (Lincoln), Rayanne Gonzales (Helen Hayes Award winner), Frank Riley III, and John Morrison.

“A Savage Nature” is also an official selection of the Spirit of Independence Film Festival (UK), Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival, and Maryland International Film Festival. The film was a feature film winner at the New Cinema Lisbon Film Festival. To view the trailer and learn more, visit www.savagenaturemovie.com.
