Are your students HUNGRY? Upcoming SNAP Workshop

September 24, 2020 / General NOVA News

Did you know that, according to the 2019 #RealCollege survey, almost 50% of our students reported experiencing food insecurity, housing insecurity or homelessness last year? And that was before the current pandemic set in!

NOVA’s Financial Stability and Advocacy Center is committed to helping connect our students to resources that will help them meet their food and housing needs so they can be successful in the classroom. Please let your students know that we are offering a workshop to help them understand Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and how this resource can help them.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides benefits to supplement the food budget for families in need to help them purchase healthy food. On Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m., NOVA’s Financial Stability and Advocacy Center will be hosting a Virtual SNAP Workshop. During the workshop a SNAP representative will be speaking about the steps in the approval process for SNAP, details on the various programs and benefits and how to apply for SNAP safely from home!
