NOVACares Becomes the Office of Wellness and Mental Health

October 1, 2020 / General NOVA News

Guided by NOVA’s commitment to equity, excellence, empathy, evidence and economic and social mobility, the college has rebranded several student support services offices. These changes will strengthen the presence of student support services, increase awareness and enhance program offerings.

To foster greater awareness of resources, the NOVACares Office has a new name: The Office of Wellness and Mental Health. This new name will shed light on how the dimensions of emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, occupational and environmental wellness impact students inside and outside the classroom.

The purpose of the Office of Wellness and Mental Health is to provide assistance, resources, support and interventions for members of the NOVA community in order to positively impact emotional development and healthy social skills and to enhance academic success by focusing on the individual as a whole: mind, body and spirit!

We will continue to provide important information for our community, focusing on the following: mental health provider database, addiction prevention and rehabilitation programs, supportive care options, grief support, LGBTQIA support, veterans support, sexual assault, dating/domestic violence and stalking educational resources.
