CETL, DEI Council to Host Creating Antiracist Spaces Webinar, Oct. 30
The Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL) and the College DEI Council have joined to offer faculty and staff the webinar “Creating Antiracist Spaces.” This highly interactive, virtual workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Traci Dennis on Friday, Oct. 30, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Participants will reflect on what antiracism is and how it may inform their development as an antiracist educator and advocate, and support the continuation of their antiracist journey.
Dr. Dennis joined the American University School of Education as a full-time term faculty member in 2016. In her current role, she teaches undergraduate and graduate students in varied courses. Through her teaching and scholarship she aims to address the impact of education inequities on students of color, support the development of teacher candidates’ antiracist knowledge, literacies and capacities and assist teacher candidates with translating antiracist theories and research into practice in schools, classrooms and curriculum.
Space for this special webinar is limited to 100 participants and available for registration on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested in participating in this workshop, please register in advance at this Link. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting, as well as prerequisite readings for the workshop.
