GoCanvas Still a Critical Tool to Stay Safe on Campus
NOVA has been back to campus for more than two months now, and it is still just as important to check your health symptoms with the GoCanvas health screening app as it was back in August. NOVA remains committed to the health and safety of students, faculty and staff, and this app is built to help keep the community safe.
The purpose of the ‘GoCanvas app’ is to reduce the spread of COVID19 within the NOVA community. All NOVA students, faculty and staff who spend time on campus are asked to check their symptoms daily using the convenient app. The ‘GoCanvas app’ is customized for NOVA, and uses approved health-related questions established by the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) that provide needed information on potential exposure, but also carefully guard user privacy. The application can be downloaded for Android, Apple or for utilization on a desktop.
The ‘GoCanvas app’ is not a contact tracing tool, but rather, it is an app that simply assists with helping the user identify symptoms. However, the Virginia Department of Health has launched Covidwise, which is a contact tracing tool that can be found on the Virginia Department of Health’s website.
As a reminder, personal identifiable information and health information are not collected, stored in GoCanvas or shared by the college. NOVA may view anonymous aggregated data to look for trends.
