Dr. Felicia Blakeney Inducted as New Member of The Links, Inc.
Dr. Felicia D. Blakeney was inducted into the Mount Rose, Maryland Chapter of The Links, Incorporated on June 4. The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit established in 1946. The membership consists of more than 16,000 professional women in 299 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Prominent members include Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Civil Rights icons Rosa Parks and Dr. Betty Shabazz and Misty Copeland, principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, the first African American woman to be promoted to principal in the company’s 75-year history.
Dr. Blakeney, a noted NOVA Classified Staff Rewards and Recognition recipient, is an Academic Advisor at the NOVA Annandale Campus and an Assistant Professor providing SDV-100 instruction. Dr. Blakeney is also a member of the Prince Georges County, Maryland Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. and served as a multi-award-winning 19th Northeastern Region Syntaktes (Director) of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
