Cast Your Vote on the Draft Mission Statement by Friday at 5

Today’s topic is a follow-up on the mission statement ThoughtExchange (TE).

My thanks to the 86 of you who offered suggestions and/or rated suggested revisions to the proposed draft mission statement. Much of the initial draft resonated with the respondents, with several voicing support for the statement as is. However, some of you offered suggestions to replace the words “delivers,” “exceptional” and “transforming;” some noted the need to be explicit about our workforce role and some did not want to lose NOVA’s commitment to responsiveness.

So, below, I’m providing six alternatives based on your feedback:

Northern Virginia Community College responds to the needs of our students and community, increasing equity in opportunity by delivering exceptional higher education and workforce programs.

Now, I’m asking you to vote.

By 5 pm on Friday, November 11, submit your selection for the mission statement that will frame our upcoming strategic plan using this anonymous link. You can only pick one.

I will share the results of the vote on Tuesday, November 15.
