Honor the Work of a Special Nighthawk with a Nomination for a S.E.A.L. Award

February 7, 2023 / Tuesday Topics

This week’s topic is nominations for NOVA’s annual S.E.A.L. Awards.

Each year, NOVA recognizes our Nighthawks’ achievement in service, engagement, academics and leadership with the S.E.A.L. Awards. These honors are celebrated at a wonderful annual dinner that brings together our students, their families and our faculty and staff. The evening is powered by the joy and pride that these awards bring and provides a well-deserved recognition of our outstanding and accomplished students.

Our Nighthawks’ paths to the stage at the S.E.A.L. Awards begin with your nominations. I encourage you to consider nominating one or more of your students for this recognition. All nominations, including those submitted by students themselves, require a letter of recommendation from a NOVA faculty or staff member. Nominations close on February 11 (aka Saturday).

All of us know the brilliance and resilience that our Nighthawks demonstrate every day as they push to realize their dreams of college degrees. They balance their excellence in classes and labs with service on campus and in our community, engaging as leaders among their peers and across our college. You play such a central role in their experience at NOVA that your nomination of our worthy Nighthawks would be an honor in itself.

Please take a few moments before this Saturday, February 11, to recognize one or more of your students via the online 2022-2023 S.E.A.L. Nomination Form. Thank you for always supporting our remarkable NOVA Nighthawks and many thanks to Director of Student Leadership and Engagement Nigel Word for his own leadership on this important initiative!
