College and Foundation Boards to Match First $30K on Giving Day for Student Success Fund!
Today’s topic is NOVA’s Giving Day.
For the second year, the NOVA Educational Foundation is sponsoring Giving Day, and this year, proceeds from this event on April 20 will support the new Student Success Fund.
This fund is designated to meet the “life happens” emergency needs that too often derail our students’ paths to their degrees. It will offer “last mile” scholarships that cover the cost of the last few credit hours to graduation for students who lack the ability to pay. The Student Success Fund is yet another way that NOVA makes real its promise to transform the lives of our students and advance opportunity in our community. It exemplifies the culture of care that makes NOVA so special.
Whether you donate $10 or $100 on Giving Day, you are sending a clear message to our NOVA Nighthawks: “I believe in you.”
To show their overwhelming support for the Student Success Fund and their belief in our students, members of our College Board and Foundation Board are matching the first $30,000 in donations made this Thursday. I thank them for their inspiring leadership and generosity!
The NOVA Educational Foundation is bringing a new level of excitement to this year’s Giving Day by rewarding you for your own generosity. Each hour, donors will be entered into drawings for great “thank you” gifts, including:
- Four (4) tickets to the NSO Cirque de la Symphonie on May 6
- An Alamo Drafthouse “Date Night Package” including 2 movie tickets, 2 sodas, a popcorn and a $10 food & beverage voucher.
- Two (2) box tickets to the Planets in HD with the National Symphony Orchestra at Wolf Trap on July 7
- A Wolf Trap VIP Package – 2 in-house tickets to a 2023 Summer Filene Center performance of the winner’s choice, VIP parking and access to Encore Circle Lounge, Wolf Trap’s private air-conditioned facility for food and relaxing throughout the evening.
- $50 off a game play at Top Golf.

Like many of you, I was able to attend college only because of a scholarship—because someone I never met made an investment in the incredible power of higher education.
