More Tips and Tricks for National Nutrition Month
What’s with all the attention on food recently? March is National Nutrition Month! Let’s use this month to build NOVA’s healthy recipe collection, contribute to the Nighthawk Nest Food Pantry and make a few tiny nutritional tweaks.
National Nutrition Month is an annual campaign, originally developed in 1973, sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Every March, all are invited to learn about making informed food choices, developing healthy eating habits and building physical activity routines. The theme for the 2024 campaign is “Beyond the Table.”
Consider the Following for National Nutrition Month:
- Take a deeper dive into the theme’s farm-to-fork concept by revisiting this Daily Flyer article on incorporating seasonal vegetables in your diet. Eating seasonally can be a cost-effective, flavorful way to add variety to your meals. The article linked above includes a few tips on what to look for at your local farmer’s market this season.
- Help our community build a collection of healthy recipes. Please visit NOVA’s Healthy Nutrition Padlet to take a recipe or leave one that you and your family enjoy. (No, it doesn’t have to be meatless — but if you have any meatless favorites, please share!)
- Contribute to the Nighthawk Nest Food Pantry during the Employee Wellness March Food Drive.
