DHRM Financial Wellness Events and Resources for April 2024!

Virginia’s Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) offers various resources to help you plan your future — and your present. See select excerpts from this month’s newsletter below. Virginia Credit Union (VACU):

  • “All About That Money Tuesdays” is a virtual financial wellness series. Employees are encouraged to register and join the live virtual mortgage webinar by Joelle Maes from Guaranteed Rate on Tuesday, April 9, at 12 p.m. The session will cover all things mortgage-related for 2024, including what’s happening with current interest rates, how to navigate the first-time home-buying process and much more!   • New in 2024! VACU is excited to introduce Banzai, a new financial wellness tool designed to empower employees on their journey to financial confidence. With Banzai, users can access a comprehensive wellness center that provides educational content on a wide range of topics, including insurance, taxes, credit management, home buying, retirement planning and more. As you progress through the activities, you’ll have a chance to win cash prizes, tickets and other giveaways! Click here to learn more about Banzai. 

Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Spring cleaning means more than washing all the windows and clearing out the pantry. Take time now to “declutter” your finances with tips from myVRS Financial Wellness. Check out Kick Your Budget Clutter to the Curb with a Fiscal Spring Cleaning. Log into your myVRS account and select “Financial Wellness.”

Employee Discounts. As always, don’t forget to check out the employee discounts webpage to take advantage of all the available discounts, exclusively for you and your family.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP). All health plans offered to state employees and their dependents have employee assistance programs (EAPs). Included are up to four sessions at no charge for such services as mental health, alcohol or drug abuse assessment, child or elder care, financial education, grief counseling, and legal services such as estate planning.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. State employees may be eligible for the PSLF Program. Keep reading to see whether you might qualify. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your direct loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full time for a qualifying employer.
