Forty-Four Local High School Grads Awarded Governor’s Medallions for D.E. Achievements
In a testament to academic dedication and the power of educational partnerships, 44 public school, private school and home school students have been awarded Governor’s Medallions. These commendations honor their exceptional achievement in completing either an associate’s degree or the Uniform Certificate of General Studies (UCGS) at the time of high school graduation.
In addition to the Governor’s Medallion recipients, 30 additional dual-enrolled students earned Career Studies Certificates (CSCs), further underscoring the breadth of opportunities afforded by NOVA’s Dual Enrollment (DE) Program.
The journey of these students to academic success was made possible through NOVA’s robust offerings and the collaborative efforts of local high schools. NOVA’s comprehensive in-school and independent dual enrollment courses, coupled with the Early Online College (EOC) program, paved the way for these students to embark on their collegiate journeys.
NOVA’s DE program provided these ambitious young people with the opportunity to enroll in college courses while attending high school. This not only allowed them to earn college credits but also provided a glimpse into the rigors of higher education, preparing them for the challenges that lie ahead. Whether through traditional in-person classes or our flexible online courses, NOVA’s program and course offerings cater to diverse learners, ensuring that every student can thrive academically.
Furthermore, the Early Online College program, a pioneering initiative, allows students to dive deeper into their academic pursuits by accessing college courses via NOVA Online. This innovative opportunity not only expands educational options, but also instills invaluable time management and self-discipline skills, setting the stage for success in future endeavors.
Beyond the accolades, the DE program and NOVA’s partnership with local high schools offer students a pathway to high-quality educational attainment and career prospects. Whether they choose to further their education or enter the workforce directly, these students are poised to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
As we celebrate the achievements of these outstanding students, let us also recognize the collaborative efforts of educators, administrators, advisors, school counselors, and community partners who have played a pivotal role in shaping their academic journeys. Together, they have demonstrated the transformative power of education and the boundless potential of Northern Virginia’s youth. Congratulations to all the Governor’s Medallion recipients and NOVA graduates—may your futures be as bright as your accomplishments!
