Sign-up For Free Half-Day Webinar: Facilitating Constructive Dialogue in Classroom, Sept. 20

September 16, 2024 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

NOVA, in partnership with the Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI), is pleased to offer a half-day training titled, Foundations in Facilitating Dialogue for up to 20 NOVA faculty or staff members. This interactive synchronous Zoom webinar will be held on Friday, September 20, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will equip NOVA faculty and staff with the skills needed to foster meaningful conversations around challenging topics, using CDI’s Prepare – Support – Intervene model:

  • Prepare: Explore strategies to build a foundation of trust in your classroom.
  • Support: Learn techniques to help students cultivate the mindsets and skills necessary for productive engagement across diverse perspectives.
  • Intervene: Master practical approaches to effectively manage moments of conflict when they arise.

Participants will engage in case studies and peer examples, applying what they learn in real-time. This proactive approach not only creates stronger dialogue spaces but also equips participants with more tools to handle conflicts in the classroom when they occur.

Space is limited. To RSVP your spot, please email Dr. Nathan Carter, NAcarter@nvcc.edu by COB Thursday September 19.

If you are unable to attend but would like more information about incorporating constructive dialogue tools and resources into your classroom curriculum, professional development workshops or other aspects of the College, please contact Dr. Carter to learn more about CDI.
