December 6, 2024 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

The ExLENT program (NSF 25-016), together with Micron Technology, is expanding options for all U.S. workers to receive training in emerging technologies—i.e., advanced manufacturing, advanced wireless, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum information science, semiconductors and microelectronics—resulting in pursuing a career in these fields.

To learn more, visit Experiential Learning for Emerging and Novel Technologies (ExLENT) | NSF – National Science Foundation or register for Office Hours: Intro to ExLENT Program Solicitation to be held on December 13 at 1 p.m. via Zoom.

Key goals of the program are to (1) expand access to experiential learning opportunities for all individuals, including adult learners; (2) promote cross-sector partnerships between organizations in emerging technology fields and those with expertise in workforce development; and (3) develop a workforce aligned with regional economies based on emerging technologies.

The three tracks are Pivots (individuals not currently enrolled and in need of upskilling), Beginnings (possessing some existing STEM competencies) and Explorations (to build interest, motivation and knowledge in emerging technology fields).

ExLENT awards are expected to be for up to three years with a total budget up to $1,000,000. This is a continuing grant with an annual competition.

Contact the Grants Office as soon as possible at novagrants@nvcc.edu if you are interested in applying.
