Summer Tuition Payment: If you registered for summer 2017 courses and haven’t submitted your tuition payment or have financial aid in place, you must do so by today, Monday, April 24 at 5 p.m. to avoid being dropped from your courses! There is still plenty of time to register for your summer course. Check out this blog post for more details about summer tuition payment.

Summer registration opens tomorrow! Majority of summer courses are 8-weeks in length. The full semesters material will be covered, so make sure you are comfortable with the pace of the course from day 1. Review the weekly time schedule to get an idea of the expectations. E-lead Series. ELI Student Life has created a virtual co-curricular opportunity to develop leadership skills for students! This program is free and does not offer academic credit, however, students who participate will receive a certificate of completion. This is also a great resume builder! ELI offers courses that begin on January 9, 23, 30, February 20 and March 13! Review the steps for our prepare for your spring semester blog post to help you plan ahead to enroll on-time!

Do you have the campus safety app ‘LiveSafe’ installed on your phone yet? In our continuing commitment to the highest level of campus safety, NOVA has launched a new mobile safety app called LiveSafe. The LiveSafe app will improve communication between students, faculty, staff and NOVA Police, and will facilitate emergency response in critical situations. Our goal is to work with you to help build a safer campus. The LiveSafe app allows you to: Report tips to or request emergency services anonymously from NOVA Police; Send your location to NOVA Police; Let friends or family monitor your movements, so you never have to walk alone; Share your concerns and suggestions with NOVA Police; Have critical safety information at your fingertips. Members of the college community, including students, staff, faculty, and parents are encouraged to download the free app through the iTunes or Google Play stores for their iPhone and Android devices. Type in “LiveSafe” and download the app with the blue shield today!

  You can now interact with NOVA on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn, iTunes U and YouTube. Become a fan. You will find us under the name NOVAaccess. You will discover and learn a lot about NOVA through our new social networking sites. Updates are made on a daily basis.  As our fan on any of these sites, you will have access to the latest events and programs taking place at each NOVA campus. Remember online courses at ELI require firm assignment due dates, so make sure you are sticking with your weekly schedule so you are not administratively withdrawn from your course. Know your Critical Enrollment Dates, including your First Assignment Due Date!

Still looking to add a spring course? ELI offers several later starting sessions. Enroll today! Once you enroll, tuition is due by 5pm the following business day. Schedule a virtual appointment with an ELI Counselor with any academic advising questions.

First time in college? Participate in a New Student Orientation Webinar – This one hour webinar is required for new-to-college students aged 17-24. New Student Orientation will focus on academic and career goals, reading degree plans, and registering for classes. Use your VCCS username/password to register and email ELILearn@nvcc.edu with any questions. All are welcome.

Are you enrolled in a MTT course this spring? If this is your first time taking an online MTT Course with ELI, you may be feeling a bit anxious about what to expect in this course. In this Recorded Webinar, ELI Success Coaches provide you with tips to success in your course. You will learn what an MTT course is, how the course is formatted, and what resources are available to you throughout the course. Request a copy today!

While enrolled in courses, you may want to register for NOVA Alert to get emergency related messages, including closures due to inclement weather. Campus closures will affect all campus offices, including the testing centers, tutoring centers, and campus libraries. What a snow day means for your ELI courses? This 45 minute webinar will give you a brief introduction to what library resources are available to you as an online learner. There might be more than you expect! Register today!

Physical Wellness – This week for Wellness Wednesday, the focus area of Physical Wellness emphasizes maintaining a healthy body. This includes upholding an active lifestyle, mindfulness of your eating habits, sleeping, managing stress, and the importance of preventative medical care.  Maintaining a healthy body is a key component to a long healthy life. Do you use wearable technology to help count your steps? What do you do to stay active? Use #Commit2fit to share your pictures and stories.
