Scholarships Open to DACA Students

Below is a listing of scholarships open to DACA students in order of the month they are available.


Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund                                                                                The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund aids people active in movements for social and economic justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to students who are able to do academic work at the college or university level or are enrolled in a trade or technical program and who are active in the progressive movement. This scholarship is open to all, regardless of citizenship status.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund                                                                                         The HSF Scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available, on a competitive basis and are open to community college students transferring to four year schools. DACA students and eligible non-citizens can apply.                                     

The United Methodist Church                                                                         GBHEM Loans and Scholarships administers over 70 scholarship programs with one general application. Criteria for each scholarship program vary. All are open to DACA students; however, applicants must be an ACTIVE, full member of The United Methodist Church for at least ONE year before applying.


CORE’s Que Llueva Café Scholarship                                                                  This scholarship was founded with the intent of providing a direct response to what is an unfair immigration system that continues to deprive aspiring new scholars from continuing their education in the only country they have ever known. This scholarship is open to undocumented students with a high school diploma or GED enrolling in college for the first time.                             

National Association of Hispanic Journalists Scholarship                      Since 1988, NAHJ has awarded nearly $1.6 million in scholarships to more than 700 students. NAHJ scholarship opportunities are open to college-bound high school seniors and college undergraduates pursuing careers in English or Spanish-language print, broadcast, digital or photojournalism. Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or better, and it is open to students regardless of citizenship status.                                             

Poe Pursuit of Excellence Mid-Atlantic Scholarship                                     This scholarship program is designed to support financially needy students who are determined to pursue a college degree. It is open to high school seniors from Wakefield, JEB Stuart, and St. Michael’s High Schools whose long-term plan is to pursue a bachelor’s degree. This scholarship is open to all regardless of citizenship status. 


Western Union Foundation Scholarship                                              Applicants must be pursuing a degree/field of study in one of the following categories: science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business/entrepreneurship. This scholarship is open to undergraduate students from 18 to 26 years old. It is open to all regardless of citizenship status.


 Esperanza Education Fund                                                                                       The Esperanza Education Fund provides college scholarships and professional mentorship to local immigrant students regardless of national origin, ethnicity, or immigration status. Students must be born outside of the US, or have two parents who were. The scholarship is open to high school seniors in the Washington DC area who will be enrolling fulltime in college.

Great Minds in STEM Scholarship                                                                          The HENAAC Scholars Program addresses the immense need that the US has to produce more domestic engineers and scientists. The goal of the program is to ensure STEM college retention with a 3.0 grade point average or higher; to guarantee college graduation with an undergraduate technical degree in four-five years; and, to contribute to Hispanic communities by producing STEM role models for future generations and securing the country’s place as the finest technological leader in the world. Applicants must be of Hispanic descent, but citizenship is not required.

 Pathway to the Baccalaureate Scholarships                                                 Each year Pathway to the Baccalaureate has several scholarships open just to Pathway students. These scholarships are typically open to DACA students. The scholarships are advertised to Pathway students via Blackboard and email.


Ayn Rand Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest                                                         Have you read one of Ayn Rand’s thought-provoking novels? Now’s the time! Enter an Ayn Rand Institute essay contest for your chance to win thousands of dollars in cash prizes. This contest is open to high school seniors and undergraduate students, and is open to all regardless of citizenship.

Latino Resources Scholarship Fund                                                                    Since 2014, the Latino Resources Scholarship Fund has operated as a culturally responsive student success initiative providing support systems to students dedicated to achieving their college career goals. Investing in Latino students who demonstrate academic excellence, civic engagement, leadership and financial need reinforces Latino Resources mission of increasing Latino leadership through college completion and civic engagement. Open to DACA students.                                          

Tylenol Future Care Scholarship                                                                             This program has helped promising individuals achieve academic excellence in medicine, ensuring the well-being of you and your family. This scholarship is open to residents of the US that have completed at least one year of undergraduate study in a health related field and have at least one more year until they graduate.


Radio Television Digital News Association Scholarship                           Since 1970, RTDNF has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships and fellowships to more than 500 young journalists as part of its mission as the educational arm of RTDNA. Recipients have gone on to enjoy careers from reporter, anchor, and news director to White House speechwriter. This scholarship is open to fulltime college sophomores pursuing careers in TV, radio, or journalism regardless of citizenship status.

Ted Rollins Eco Scholarship                                                                                        Ted Rollins and TXG Capital award a $1,000 scholarship twice each year to one talented student who is majoring in a field related to sustainability. This money may be used to pay for tuition, books or living expenses. This scholarship is open to high school seniors or undergraduates planning to take at least 10 credits regardless of citizenship status.  


Patsy Takemoto Mink Scholarship                                                       Established in 2003, this scholarship aims to carry on some of Mink’s most ardent commitments: education access, opportunity, and equity for low-income women, especially mothers; and education enrichment for children. This scholarship is open to low-income mothers regardless of citizenship status.

Platt Family Scholarship Essay Contest                                                              This scholarship is for fulltime currently enrolled undergraduate students. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen to apply. Our Topic for 2017:  Several American presidents, including ideological opposites George W. Bush and Barack Obama, have stated that they have either admired or sought inspiration from the life and times of Abraham Lincoln. What is it about Lincoln that appeals to a wide range of political leaders?  What lessons from Lincoln’s presidency might be useful to our new president


Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship                                                          The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship honors excellence by supporting outstanding community college students with financial need to transfer to and complete their bachelor’s degrees at the nation’s top four-year colleges and universities. This scholarship is open to DACA students.


Golden Door Scholarships                                                                                  Golden Door Scholars provides scholarships for DACA students and scholarships for undocumented students. Students may be high school seniors or recent graduates. Preference will be given to high school graduates from states that require undocumented students to pay out-of-state tuition. Virginia is one of those states.


TheDream.US                                                                                                                    We think of our National Scholarship as the “Pell Grant” for highly motivated DREAMers with significant, unmet financial need. While we consider your GPA and test scores, we place great emphasis on your demonstrated ability to overcome the barriers and challenges that DREAMers face each and every day.


 Dr. Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders                  Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr. is one of only four Latinos in history to be honored by both governments; the United States and Mexico. He received the Presidential Citizens Medal from President Bill Clinton, and the National Ohtli Award, the highest honor presented by the government of Mexico for distinguished service to the Mexican and Mexican American community in the United States. Undergraduate students with financial need may apply regardless of citizenship status.                                     

Generation Hope                                                                                            Generation Hope began in March 2010 when Nicole Lynn Lewis, a former teen mother who attended the College of William & Mary while raising her infant daughter, decided to put her dream of helping more teen parents beat the odds in motion.  She envisioned an organization that would encourage and support other teen parents in their pursuit of a college degree.  This scholarship is open to teen parents who have DACA status.

Scholarship America                                                                                       Scholarship America’s Dream Award is a renewable scholarship fund for students in their college sophomore year and beyond — with growing, renewable awards that help ensure talented students can afford to complete the degree programs they’ve started. Students must be attending fulltime with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and is open to DACA students.               


 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards                                                                           The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Scholarships are given to high school seniors that exhibit excellence in writing or art  regardless of citizenship status.
