Michelle Pham will be exhibiting in the Verizon Gallery at the Richard J. Ernst Community Cultural Center. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, November 10th, 2015 and runs through Sunday, November 15th, 2015. There will be a reception on Saturday, November 14th from 9:30AM until 11:30AM, and an additional reception on Sunday, November 15th, 2015 from 9:30AM until 11:30AM. Parking is free in the B lots.

The inspiration for Michelle’s exhibition centers on the slaying of her niece, Vanessa Pham. Michelle frequently passes the location where her 19 year old niece was found stabbed to death in June 2010. While the perpetrator was found and convicted of first-degree murder, her extended family has been forever changed. Michelle works though her pain and pays tribute to her niece through her artwork.

Michelle studied art at Northern Virginia Community College and then received her Bachelors of Art from George Mason University in 2000. Michelle works a number of jobs; but has always found time to pursue her art and teaching art. This exhibition brings together a select group of her students and her own work inspired by her niece, Vanessa.

All patrons attending the reception will be able to complete a comment card. One card will be selected at each reception, and the lucky patron will be given a work of art to keep. The comments will be incorporated on Michelle’s blog and Facebook page – to continue the tribute to Vanessa.
